Japan suffered a diplomatic humiliation, as it was forced to bow to Chinese demands release of the Chinese captain. Handling this matter prove to the world, Japanese politicians question how in the face of diplomatic incompetence. But also propose a more serious question: why Japan has taken such a strong position. The answer seems clear is that Beijing is pursuing similar to the “big stick” foreign policy. The policy was originally proposed by the United States in the early 20th century introduced.
Whether economically or militarily, China is close to become the world’s second largest power. To help the construction of port facilities in the name, China has in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, building a naval base. Beijing has also determined to control the South China Sea, where it with Vietnam, the Philippines and other countries territorial disputes.
Beijing has taken the typical pattern is to send naval vessels seized near disputed islands in the Philippines more fishing vessels, the de facto control of these islands. The Chinese leadership seems fully aware that “big stick” diplomacy for more weak country’s most effective. China is now seeking to expand its sphere of influence, not only in the South China Sea, the East China Sea is also true.

In order to maintain their standard of living of the 1.3 billion people, China has to ensure that resources are safe. To achieve this goal, China is to wage war on three fronts. First, build support for China’s domestic and international public opinion. Second, psychological warfare, designed to reduce confrontation with the Chinese national army morale. The third is to promote the legalization of Beijing’s territorial claims. Take the day that the incident broke out, Japan was defeated, at least from the psychological point of view.
With the Chinese nationalist sentiment rising in stark contrast, the apparent lack of Japanese nationalism. 60 years since the end of World War II, the Japanese people have always believed that “the Constitution,” the preamble of the declaration. Today, the Japanese began to realize that “Japan is the only dangerous countries in the region and was surrounded by the peace-loving neighbors” this view is wrong. Perhaps the Japanese should be grateful to China, because through fishing event, China to provide a return to more normal Japanese and realistic thinking opportunities.
